It was commonly engraved on medieval love tokens and posy rings, and this one is a copy of a famous one in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. The original was probably given to a lover or as part of a courtship. French was widely used for romantic mottos by the English nobility during the 15th century. This - again - is a reproduction in sterling silver. Probably a museum shop replica, 20th c. Stamped "STERLING" inside.
