In 1820, at the end of the Georgian period, gray pearls were far less common than their white counterparts. Set into a half-hoop ring, they would have made the wearer look v. sophisticated. Half-hoop rings were comfortable enough for everyday wear while still offering plenty of presence across the finger. Pearls were a favorite choice: they had long been associated with wisdom, sincerity, and emotional balance, qualities especially admired in Georgian women.
