AEI comes from the Greek word ἀεί (aei), meaning “forever” or “always.” During the Victorian era, Greek inscriptions lent jewelry an air of classical refinement. Everyone was fascinated with the ancient world and its ideals.

In recent years, some collectors and dealers have interpreted AEI as standing for “Amity, Eternity, Infinity.” While it’s a charming backronym (a word I just learned!) the historical origin of the motif lies in the Greek word. These affordable and petite silver earrings were cut and engraved by hand.
