14k hooks (tested) with very minimal Vulcanite hoops with squared-off corners. Impossibly chic today, in a mahogany color. When they were made (c. 1850) they would have been worn in the first stages of mourning, where you weren't allowed to show off any ornament (including pattern, shine, sparkle or color). Matte black (or v dark brown) only. 1 1/4" diameter. WOW.
